Playwriting

Composer - librettist - lyricist
Being a pianist for 15 years, Mitchell was naturally led to the world of composition. In time, his gift of storytelling turned into a natural talent for writing musicals. His first full length musical, Teddy, Phoebe, and the Visionary, debuted in January 2024 at Rider University as a staged reading, then as a “selection of songs” cabaret at The Green Room 42 in January of 2025. Mitchell attended the Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriting Intensive in August of 2025, where he got the chance to work in depth with faculty members Adam Gwon (writer of Ordinary Days) and Anna K. Jacobs (composer of Teeth) as well as collaborate with other new musical theatre songwriters. Fun fact: He also won the award “Most Likely To Have a Song in Every Tenors Audition Book”
